The workshop (“Design Embedded in Life” key event during Radical Design Week) focused on the potential of improving the quality of life of ageing population and supporting active life at home by embedding technology into everyday life and finding ways to use existing technologies in more intelligent ways, for example in understanding daily activities, behaviors, and rhythms – including physical and emotional aspects.
Workshop brought together experts from universities, research institutions, companies, public sector entities, and NGOs, including Haier (world’s #1 Appliance manufacturer), MIT Media Lab, the major Chinese cities (Shanghai, Beijing, Wuhan) and several Finnish SMEs.
Finland – China joint activities were highlighted and linked with key partnerships for facilitating the international cooperation in this emerging industry. Future cooperation and business opportunities for Finnish companies were discussed.
The event was organized by ICT Alliance / TIVIT (Matti Hämäläinen as the program chair) with SFC/ATDF (Matti M. Hämäläinen as the local host).
